Autodesk Acquires Navisworks

Autodesk announces the acquistion of UK-based NavisWorks, whose product offering includes Roamer, a real-time 3D walkthrough technology. While it is unclear whether the technology provides networked collaboration, this can only fuel rumors that Autodesk is opting for their own brand of metaverse. The main success of their presence in Second Life is that they took steps to leave the walled garden and recognize the power of community. Are they poised for a retreat?
